Water is one of the most essential resources on our planet, vital for the survival of all life forms. Many people assume that the water they drink or come into contact with is safe, simply because it appears clean. However, the microbial quality of water and its implications for human health are often overlooked. It is estimated that nearly 2.2 billion people worldwide lack access to safely managed water services. Waterborne diseases, such as cholera, diarrhoea, leptospirosis, and hepatitis, are prevalent in many regions. Cholera alone affects about 2.8 million people globally each year, resulting in approximately 90,000 deaths. In today’s world, monitoring water quality is more crucial than ever as infections caused by waterborne pathogens are on the rise, many of which are linked to climate change. It is a global mission to ensure access to safe drinking water for the entire population by 2030. Enfys Lifesciences is committed to this mission by implementing various programs aimed at raising public awareness about the microbial quality of water and providing training to increase the number of skilled professionals in water quality monitoring.
